Lebanese Red Cross transfers 34 injured Syrians from al-Qusayr

The state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday that the Lebanese Red Cross transferred 34 Syrian nationals wounded in the Syrian town of Qusayr to Lebanon.

Syrian regime forces backed by Hezbollah fighters captured on Wednesday the strategic town of al-Qusayr near Lebanon's border following three weeks of fierce fighting.

Only 10 kilometers from Lebanon, al-Qusayr town is strategic for the regime and Hezbollah due to its proximity to the border with Lebanon.

As well, the town is located on a route that links Damascus to the regime's strongholds on the Syrian coast.

As for the rebels, the town was important as it served as a conduit from Lebanon for smuggling men and weapons.

Syrian terrorists escape in women’s attire

TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) – Internal clashes among rival groups of terrorists and their escape in women’s attire and being trapped in Syrian army ambush is most important developments.

Al-Ahd news website reported that clashes among terrorist members from Persian Gulf countries, Chechnya, and Libya had broken out.

“The clashes rose when every group accused others of being responsible for defeat against Syrian army, and this have worked to their weakening and escape to Al-Zabqa airport,” wrote the website report.

Military sources reportedly had the account of terrorists being trapped in the ambush by Syrian army outside of Al-Qusayr, and their suffering of casualties including 8 deaths and some other injuries.

Syrian Army Advances in Al-Qusayr, Kill Large Number of Militants

The Syrian Army advanced in Al-Qusayr on Sunday, killing and wounding a large number of militants, while the others escaped, Al- Manar correspondent reported, adding that the Syrian Army took control over most of the area, reaching the municipal building in the center of the city.

The Syrian Army’s operations in Al-Qusayr city in Homs started after it waged air raids and shells at militants’ bases in the area late Saturday.

In this context, sources had stated earlier this week that the Syrian Air Forces had dropped leaflets over the city, demanding civilians to evacuate the area and militants to drop their arms and surrender, indicating that a large number did actually surrender while others escaped into deeper areas in Homs.

On another hand, Al-Mayadeen reported that the Syrian Army had taken control over Barza in Damascus, and succeeded in killing militia field leaders “Abu Sufian” and “Abu Musab”.

In parallel, Syrian news agency SANA reported that the Army had confiscated an Israeli manufactured missile, and large numbers of machine guns and ammunitions in the hands of an armed group that was terrorizing and cutting the road of Homs-Tadmor.
