TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army announced that it plans to widen military operations in Aleppo and other regions in Southern and Eastern Syria, adding that it is resolved to take back full control over Khalidiya district of Aleppo in the next few days.

The Syrian army is now in full control over the western parts of Aleppo, including al- Maydan and Karam al-Jabal districts, and can now advance into eastern districts of Aleppo, Syria's second largest city and also its commercial hub, military analysts said.

The armed rebels have planted bombs and mines in Aleppo in order to prevent the Syrian army's advancement into the eastern districts of the city.

The Syrian army took back full control of a key air defense base in Reef District of Damascus on Sunday after intense clashes with terrorists.

Armed rebels fighting the Syrian government had seized the air defense base of Atibah battalion near Damascus on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Syrian army killed over 400 terrorists during military operations in the different districts of Aleppo and Homs.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October 2011, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of increasing unrests in Syria.
