DAMASCUS, March 25 (Xinhua) -- An explosive device affixed under a car went off in a district of the Syrian capital on Monday evening, leaving unspecified number of people killed or injured, pro-government Sham FM radio reported.

The car went off in Damascus' district of Halbouni, the report said, adding that all of the car's occupiers were killed. The report, however, stopped short of giving a death toll.

Blasts and mortar attacks have become daily routine in Syria recently, notably in Damascus.

Earlier in the day, one person was killed and many more injured when two mortars struck the Umayyad Square and adjacent street in central Damascus.
